January Report

The Dolphin WI ladies enjoyed a "Back in Time" evening in January, when local historian Mike Bardell recalled the early shops of Braintree going right back to the early 1900's. It brought back many memories for our older members and at the same time captured the interest of the younger ladies and those new to the area. After delicious refreshments Mike judged the competition, "A carrier bag or shopping bag with Logo" this was won by Pauline Sutton, with her bag advertising PG Tips.

The meeting continued and discused the 6 resolutions put forward for conference, with the most popular one being forwarded on to Essex Federation.

Next month will be a members evening with a "Show and Tell" theme. New members are always welcome we meet on the 4th Thursday of the month at The Braintree Community Centre 7-30pm.

Edinburgh Wool Mill

Dolphin WI held their meeting in the Braintree branch of Edinburgh Wool Mill in October - an innovation as they had never held their meeting away from the Community centre before.

Some of their members acted as models for the range of clothing available in their own special Fashion Show and had a riotous time doing so.

Braintree Knitted Town

Following its warm reception at Essex Federation Summer Show at Hyde Hall, Dolphin's 'Knitted Braintree Town' is now on display at George Yard shopping centre in the old Phones 4 U shop. The display will move in the autumn to Braintree Museum where it will be displayed from 11th to the 23rd September. See poem.
